The ASEAN Central Banks’ Working Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (WC PSS) study in 2011 uncovered that domestic retail payment systems in some countries are still fragmented, resulting in non-interoperability among different providers. Inefficiency in payment systems and opaque pricing mechanisms resulted in costly cross-border payments.
APN has been identified by WC PSS to establish an efficient, cost-effective, and secure cross border retail payment infrastructure aiming to offer businesses and individuals the ability to make or receive electronic payments with greater convenience.
Established in 2006 by 6 ASEAN domestic payment switches namely ALTO, ARTAJASA, ITMX, MEPS, NETS, RINTIS. It is closely associated with WC PSS to establish an efficient, cost-effective, and secure cross border retail payment infrastructure.
LankaPay became a member of the Asian Payment Network
LankaPay was elected as the Vice Chairman network of APN for 2023-24 at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Korea hosted by Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute (KFTC). LankaPay participated to AGM Forum held in Bali, Indonesia.
LankaPay was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Business Sub-committee of APN for 2024-25 at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Tokyo, Japan hosted by NTT DATA Group Corporation, Japan.
