Awareness and Training Session Held for Traffic Police Officers in Ampara Ahead of GovPay Expansion

Ahead of the expansion of Traffic Spot Fine Payments via GovPay in the Eastern Province, an awareness and training session for Traffic Police Officers in the Ampara District was held on 23 December 2025. The programme, conducted at the Ampara Police Headquarters Main Auditorium, was organised by the Sri Lanka Police and delivered by officials from LankaPay and ICTA, under the direction of the Digital Taskforce of the Ministry of Transport.

The session was graced by Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. W. P. J. Senadheera, Senior Superintendent of Police – Ampara Division Mr. P. B. Kasturiarachchi, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. H. B. G. S. Sampath Kumara Wickramarachchi, Officers-in-Charge of Police Stations across the division, and officers from the Vehicle and Information Technology Divisions, including Mr. P. P. Lakmal. Bringing together Traffic Officers-in-Charge and officers from Police Stations across the Ampara District, the programme focused on providing hands-on, practical knowledge of the GovPay online traffic fine payment system, covering the complete end-to-end operational workflow. During the programme, smartphones were also distributed to the respective Police Divisions for use by Traffic Police Officers.

With the rollout of GovPay traffic fine payments in the Ampara District, motorists can now settle traffic spot fines instantly through GovPay with guidance from the issuing police officer—further strengthening transparency, efficiency, and convenience by transforming a manual process into a secure and streamlined digital service.
